Dear Wonderful Readers of Charlotte's Journal,
Since I am a huge fan of the NBC comedy "The Office," I had to somehow include something from the show into the title of my first post on my new blog. So, without further rambling on my part, you may be asking yourself, What is the dealio? Well, my friends, the dealio is this: On my main blog, Charlotte's Journal, I noticed I have taken to quoting a lot of songs. So I've decided to set up a whole other blog devoted simply to my ramblings and quotings of songs.
So I have a few for today since I am super excited about this. My first song I would like to quote is a classic song by one of my all-time favorite bands, the White Stripes, called "Fell in Love With a Girl." The lyrics I am quoting is as follows:
Sometimes these feelings can be so misleading.
Now, if you're not familiar with the song, these lyrics will make no sense to you. But that doesn't matter because the song is about, well, being "in love with a girl," which I am not (since I am a girl and "I'm not like that" as Bobbie would say). No, the reason I am quoting this song is because of these lyrics alone. Just the whole general idea of liking someone. It's a tough thing, I think, and it can be quite misleading.
The second song I would like to quote today is by another one of my all-time favorite bands: Bright Eyes. Most people who do not listen to indie music are not familiar with Bright Eyes or its musical-genius of a lead singer Conor Oberst (he's adorable, too). The lyrics I would like to quote are from a Bright Eyes song called "Bowl of Oranges," and they are as follows:
There is nothing I can do for you [that] you can't do for yourself.
The thing that struck me about these lyrics is how many times I've gone around, whining to someone about something, begging them to help me in a situation when I never really stopped to think about whether I could someone help myself. I'm not real sure where I was going with this one, but something about it seems very "deep" (as my friend, who is also named Conor, would say).
So that's all for now.
Thank you for reading and goodnight.
Charlotte
